Proverbs 22:6 – Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Sometimes we need words of wisdom to encourage us and put things in perspective. These are some of my favorites relating to home and school.

Educating a child is a natural process. Home schooling is nothing more than an extension of parenting. – Sue Maakestad (from Learning For Life: Educational Words of Wisdom)

Stay, stay at home my heart and rest; Home-keeping hearts are happiest…To stay at home is best. – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children. – Charles Swindoll

If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn. – Ignacio Estrada

You cannot possibly teach your children everything they need to know, but you can give them one thing they need to learn: a positive learning attitude. – Clay Clarkson

It is not what is poured into a student that counts but what is planted. – Linda Conway

A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others. – Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (translated from Turkish)

Perhaps imagination is only intelligence having fun. – George Scialabba

There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning. – Jiddu Krishnamurti
