Home School Years

Proverbs 22:6 – Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Forest In The Fall

I love all things Autumn! It is my favorite season of the year ~ colorful changes, aroma of warm spices, crisp and chilly weather hinting at the upcoming holidays ~ it’s like all my senses are awake at the same time! We chose to participate in the Mayor’s Fall Hike & Outdoor Adventure Family Day at a forest that is about an hour away from home as part of our First grade extended lesson outings. It was a fantastic field trip! We got to do a one mile hike in the colorful forest, went for a hay ride around another part of the forest, participated in an educational leaf comparison kids activity, learned about the native trees and wildlife to the area (which included bats, birds, spiders, plants and fungus). We even enjoyed a nice bonfire at the end. It was truly a memorable way to experience Autumn at its best!
