Home School Years

Proverbs 22:6 – Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old, he will not depart from it.

One of the things I love most about home schooling is the opportunity to adapt and adjust schooling around life. We traveled south to central Florida for the holidays and ended up extending our stay a few weeks. It not only gave us an opportunity to spend extra time with family and friends, but it also gave us a chance to school in new surroundings. We explored local historical museums, a science center, nature trails, cultural sites, educational entertainment venues and sporting events. Combined with the reading and worksheet assignments I brought along, I was able to keep our educational schedule fun and on track! I have the mindset that every day can be an opportunity to learn and be inspired, and the past four weeks away from our home base was a nice reminder of just how successful home schooling can be when we stay flexible and open to the opportunities in our daily life.
